Finding teaching scholarships in North Carolina is not a very easy task. There are only a total of three teaching scholarship programs that one can apply to if they are looking towards advancing to a teaching career in the state of North Carolina. One of these teaching scholarships in North Carolina programs is called The North Carolina Teaching Fellows Program. This program is a merit based program based on the students academic progress. The second program is called The North Carolina Millennium Teacher Scholarship Loan Program. This program is also based on a students merit but also on the student “need” as well. The last teaching scholarships in North Carolina program is called The Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education Grant Program, or TEACH. This program, just like the second one is based on the academicfin merit and the financial need of the student as well.

Before applying to any of these scholarships, you need to make sure you know all of the requirements for each one. Both the Millennium Teacher and Teaching Fellows scholarship programs require that the student be enrolled in a North Carolina high school, have an average grade point average or GPA of 2.5 or higher and an SAT score of 900 or higher, or and ACT score of 19 or higher. The TEACH grant requires a student to have a GPA of at least 3.25 and also have passed within the 75th percentage of a college admonitions exam.

The Teaching Fellows program is accepted in 15 different North Carolina colleges. The Millennium Teacher scholarship is only accepted at 3 colleges-Fayetteville State University, Elizabeth City State University and Winston-Salem State University. To find out whether or not the TEACH program is available at the college you choose, you will need to ask that colleges` financial aid office. Each scholarship has their own application procedures.
